The New York Jets Roundtable is back with the latest Jets updates heading into a massive Week 3 showdown against the Detroit Lions β and this game could tell us a LOT about Aaron Glenn's team.
The Jets enter Detroit at 1-1 after letting a 17-7 fourth-quarter lead slip away against the Packers in an overtime loss. Now Aaron Glenn returns to the city where he spent four seasons as Detroit's defensive coordinator, while his Jets bring the NFL's No. 1-ranked defense into Ford Field.
π₯ WHAT WILL THE JETS REVEAL AGAINST DETROIT?
Is this Jets defense for real? Can the offense finally take the next step? And most importantly β can New York learn how to finish games?
Through two games, the Jets have been extremely difficult to move the ball against, ranking No. 1 overall and becoming just the 12th team since the NFL merger to hold its first two opponents under 200 total yards. But Detroit presents a completely different challenge, averaging 362 yards per game.
π― GENO SMITH'S TURNOVER-FREE START
Geno Smith has yet to throw an interception or lose a fumble this season, and he's completing 70.8% of his passes. Now he'll face a Lions defense that has struggled through the first two weeks.
Can Geno and the Jets offense capitalize?
𧨠AARON GLENN RETURNS TO DETROIT
Glenn's return is one of the biggest storylines of Week 3. He coached Detroit's defense from 2021-24 under Dan Campbell, helping establish the foundation of the Lions' turnaround.
Now Glenn returns as the opposing head coach β with a Jets team determined to show that its new identity is real.
π ON THIS EPISODE:
β οΈ THE PACKERS LOSS EXPOSED SOME PROBLEMS. DETROIT WILL TEST WHETHER THE JETS HAVE ACTUALLY FIXED THEM.
ποΈ Can Aaron Glenn's Jets make a statement in his return to Detroit, or will the Lions expose the areas New York still needs to fix?

The New York Jets are only two games into the 2026 NFL season, but the pressure is already starting to build after a heartbreaking 20-17 overtime loss to the Green Bay Packers.
The Jets are 1-1, their defense is playing at an elite level, and yet New York couldn't close out a game it led by 10 points in the fourth quarter.
So is it time to start asking questions about Aaron Glenn?
ποΈ The New York Jets Roundtable breaks down ALL the latest Jets news, the growing pressure surrounding Glenn, the Week 2 collapse, the injury situation, and what this team must fix immediately.
π₯ AARON GLENN UNDER PRESSURE?
Glenn was visibly frustrated following the loss to Green Bay, taking responsibility for mistakes while emphasizing that the defeat won't define the Jets. New York's defense held Jordan Love and the Packers to just 199 total yards, but the Jets couldn't finish the game after holding a 17-7 fourth-quarter lead.
Now Glenn heads back to Detroit for a huge Week 3 matchup against the Lions β the team where he previously served as defensive coordinator.
π‘οΈ THE DEFENSE ISN'T THE PROBLEM!
New York's defense currently ranks No. 1 in the NFL in total defense and is the only unit in the league currently ranking inside the top five against both the run and the pass. The Jets have held each of their first two opponents below 200 total yards.
But can that defense continue carrying the team?
π THE JETS HAVE TO FIX THESE PROBLEMS!
New York committed 13 penalties for 156 yards against Green Bay, struggled on special teams, and couldn't put the Packers away despite controlling much of the game.
The question isn't whether the Jets can compete.
Can they actually FINISH?
π¨ AND NOW THEY FACE DETROIT!
Aaron Glenn returns to Ford Field to face Dan Campbell and his former team. Meanwhile, Geno Smith faces Jared Goff, while the Jets defense prepares for Jahmyr Gibbs, Amon-Ra St. Brown and Sam LaPorta.
Detroit is averaging 362 yards per game, while its defense ranks 31st in the league after allowing 10 touchdowns through two games.

THE JETS HAD THIS GAME IN THEIR HANDS β AND LET IT SLIP AWAY.
The New York Jets Roundtable breaks down one of the most frustrating losses of the young 2026 season after the Jets blew a 17-7 fourth-quarter lead and ultimately fell to the Green Bay Packers 20-17 in overtime at MetLife Stadium.
New York had opportunities to put the game away, but Green Bay scored the final 13 points and Trey Smack's 26-yard field goal in overtime ended it.
Now it's time to ask the BIG question:
Despite the loss, the Jets controlled large portions of the game and finished with 285 total yards, compared with Green Bay's 199. Geno Smith completed 27 of 41 passes for 247 yards, while the Jets defense repeatedly disrupted Jordan Love and the Packers offense.
But winning football games comes down to finishing.
Was this loss on Aaron Glenn? The offense? The defense? Special teams? Or was it simply a total team collapse?
