I have yet to meet someone who doesn’t have an opinion about Alpha School. People love it. People hate it. In any case, their model won’t leave you indifferent. This, I find fascinating. 

Alpha School is a private school in the U.S. for children pre-K to 12th grade, with 50 campuses and counting across the country. It ranks in the top 1% of schools nationally in the U.S., across all grades and subjects.

The three promises of Alpha School :
- kids will love school (more than holidays)
- kids will crush their academics in just 2 hours a day, with AI
- kids will learn life skills (entrepreneurship, collaboration, financial literacy…)

Two major shifts, as they have completely revisited:
- what a day at school looks like : 2h academics in the morning, the rest of the day for life skills & projects
- the role of the teacher : from having to do it all, to a mentor or ‘guide’ whose main role is to motivate children

I am excited to share with you this conversation with MacKenzie Price, cofounder of Alpha School.

NewKid Days first edition took place in the heart of VivaTech 10th anniversary, last June 20, 2026. 

I created this day for the intentional moms and dads out there, the curious minds who wants scientific and thoughtful content wrapped in conversations — building bridges between research, startups, education and philosophy. And including the children in the loop, too. Because hey, we’re here to empower them!

This is a replay of the panel "Is French school ready for what's ahead?" that took place that day. 

Four entrepreneurs with unique background and experiences came to share their views on this fundamental question : is French school preparing its children for the world they will be living in tomorrow?

An assessment of French school's successes, challenges, and the road still ahead. 

While adults gathered in circles for their conversations, children were invited to run a similar circle, exploring and drawing the "school of their dreams"!

As we raise our children today, what is important, really? What skills should we try to equip them with? The timeless ones? The new ones?

Last June 20, during NewKid Days’ 1st edition at Vivatech, we invited three exceptional guests, each with a unique background on that matter : a philosopher (and school founder), an edtech entrepreneur and a digital anthropologist, for a 'big picture' type of discussion.

• preserving our privates spaces

A unique format involving the public, brought and animated by the founder of La Maison de la Conversation. 

While adults gathered in circles for their conversations, children were invited to run a similar circle, exploring what should AI help their parents do vs where do they need their parents absolutely.

This is a reply of this first panel that took place during the NewKid Days #1 in VivaTech, last June 20.

LLMs and our children. A conversation between AI builder Aymeric Roucher (ex Hugging Face, author of “Ultra-Intelligence : Jusqu’où les intelligences artificielles iront-elles ?”), and two of the most knowledgeable AI x child safety experts, Dr Mathilde Cerioli (Chief Scientist at everyone.ai) and Stéphie Herlin (cofounder of KORA), moderated by another AI x child safety expert Anne-Sophie Seret (Executive Director of everyone.ai).

We dug into what’s a Large Language Model (LLM), the stages of development of a child’s brain, and what we know about how generative AI is impacting children.

Meanwhile, children and teens got to learn how image recognition works, through a workshop involving drawing dozens of cats, with Linda Liukas. Others discussed with Amélia Matar the biaises and boundaries of AI in our lives.

Let me introduce you to Lydia and Kevon. Their energy, their relentless desire to turn ideas into experiments into products, together, is an inspiration. Lydia’s a math tutor, Kevon’s worked at the crossroad of tech and education for years. She’s the determined, achieving mother passionate about how to get students (including her own kids) cultivate interest in learning ; he’s the creative, tinkerer dad exploring how the latest tech tools can enhance learning possibilities, spicing up what schools provide, now empowering 12-16 years old to get out there with their unique projects. They are the parents of two daughters, 5 years old Avery and 3 years old Audrey.

In this episode, meet Natasha and Latham, homeschooling their two children around a pretty unique project : building an airplane!

Together, we talk about down to earth topics like what's a usual weekday in their family, the cost of building an airplane, the tools they’re using to support their home education, the social aspects of homeschooling too.
