The 8th Pay Commission is set to begin consultations in New Delhi today to review salaries, allowances and pensions of central government employees. Headed by Chairperson of the Delimitation Commission, Ranjana Desai, the panel will engage with unions seeking higher pay amid inflation, impacting around 10 million employees and pensioners.
Meanwhile, the Government has submitted a report to the Supreme Court proposing biometric SIM checks, stricter telecom controls and safeguards on platforms like WhatsApp to curb digital arrest scams, along with coordination with the Reserve Bank of India.
Separately, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held talks with his Chinese counterpart Dong Jun at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation meet in Bishkek, reviewing the LAC situation and regional security issues.
