Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday held bilateral talks with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store in Oslo during the first standalone visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Norway in forty-three years. India and Norway elevated ties to a Green Strategic Partnership focused on clean energy, maritime cooperation, healthcare, artificial intelligence and digital technologies.
Meanwhile, Pakistan has deployed around eight thousand troops, fighter jets and air defence systems to Saudi Arabia under a mutual defence pact amid rising tensions linked to the Iran conflict. The deployment includes JF-17 fighter aircraft, drones and Chinese-made HQ-9 air defence systems operated by Pakistani personnel.
Separately, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari announced women’s welfare measures, phased out religion-based assistance schemes and set up inquiry panels to probe crimes against women, corruption and post-poll violence cases.
