Offensive Tackle, Michael Oher has been release by the Carolina Panthers after reports of a failed physical. Oher had been with the team for just 2 seasons and spent the last 9 months in the concussion protocol without being cleared to return to team activities.
Oherâs release comes as fans are still reeling from the firing of General Manager David Gettleman this past Monday and the return of Marty Hurney as interim GM. However, this move was not a huge surprise to fans. Last month, our own Ashlyn Rizzo speculated that he would be cut prior to training camp.
In other Panthers news, Pro Bowl Offensive Guard, Trai Turner has agreed to a 4-year extension with the Carolina Panthers. He received a $15 million signing bonus, with $20.5 million guaranteed of a $45 million dollar deal. ESPN reports that this makes Turner the 3rd highest paid guard in the league at $11.2 million per year. This is the first move for Marty Hurney 2.0 and expect more to come throughout the remaining of the off-season.
