Newsletter #223: Ask Me Anything TONIGHT!

Listen Later

Hey guys, it’s Scott.

It is Wednesday, November 12th, and I just wanted to make a quick adjustment, quick course correction. I forgot that my amazing assistant, Tyler, is going to the incredible convention Thought Bubble tomorrow, Thursday, over in England. So tonight is off the table for a class. We will reschedule it for two weeks from now, right before Thanksgiving, because that’s when we have both DC K.O. #2 and Absolute Batman #14 coming out alongside a bunch of key reprints.

So we’ll do it November 26th, the night before Thanksgiving. I don’t know if you guys will be crazy busy with family stuff. I hope you are in a good way. But if you want to come in and talk comic books with me and momentism in comics, I’ll be there.

So tonight at 9:15pm, instead, what I’ll do is a 45-minute AMA, a Q&A, open to everybody that’s part of Best Jackett, free, paid, everything. So come ask me whatever you want in the comments of this post, on the Discord server, or during the livestream. Questions about craft or the industry are especially helpful as opposed to continuity stuff. But either way, I’ll answer anything you want. And I love doing these, so it’s my chance to get to talk to you and say thanks. Looking forward to it! Again, here’s the link to join TONIGHT AT 9:15pm EST:

And yeah, hope everything’s good with you. Happy new comic book day and I apologize for the chaos, but we’ll get back to teaching really soon. It’ll be fun, I’m excited for the class. This one, what I’m going to do is I’m going to do a few classes in a row that are all about elements in monthly comics that I think are really important that are coming back strongly now, but that are also sometimes forgotten in an era of streaming. So I mentioned a bunch of them in the class that I did about six things for your checklist if you’re doing monthly superhero comics or monthly comics in general a few months back:

But I want to kind of dissect them more because I rushed through them. So this one is momentism. It’s about creating a big moment in your comic. I’m also going to do one that’s about giving big character moments. Like, what is a big character moment? Because there are different kinds. They each announce a different thing about your project and your series to a reader. Cliffhangers, all that kind of stuff. But what I’m going to do with this one is talk about big moments. So I hope you’ll come check it out. We’ll do it in two weeks, and apologies again for the confusion. But come by and ask me whatever you want tonight. Bye!
