Thanks for reading Jenny Marie Hatch ! This post is public for the next 24 hours so feel free to share it.

Peace

My podcast has been sabotaged these past few weeks. This one was worst of all. I suspect it is coming from Substack, but it could be happening through my phone. Many of my You Tube videos were trifled with in this way over the years.

If you stick with it for a few seconds, the sound gets better. The goal is to get you to turn it off and stop listening as that annoying sound reverberates.

I hope you will keep listening.

If

If you can keep your head when all about you

Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,

If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,

But make allowance for their doubting too;

If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,

Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,

Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,

And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;

If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim;

If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster

And treat those two impostors just the same;

If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken

Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,

Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,

And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings

And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,

And lose, and start again at your beginnings

And never breathe a word about your loss;

If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew

To serve your turn long after they are gone,

And so hold on when there is nothing in you

Except the Will which says to them: ‘Hold on!’

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,

Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,

If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,

If all men count with you, but none too much;

If you can fill the unforgiving minute

With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,

Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,

And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!

Paul and Jenny Hatch April 2025

My husband is the embodiment of the poem If. He is the most amazing person I know.

So is President Trump.

Quote

“This is easier and more fun—much like Donald Trump’s second presidency.

He learned the hard way in Term One. He is an accomplished politician now. He has his team in place. It is a Team of Team Players instead of that Team of Moles who reported to the RINOs not him, with Bill Barr being the phoniest and the least trustworthy.

Hegseth, Noem and Homan are deporting the worst illegals. Patel and Rubio also have roles in this. It’s the A Team he thought Republicans would give him last time. He made his own one this time. The results speak for themselves.

His open Cabinet meetings may force people to be nice and cooperative for TV but I can imagine a Secretary of State Nikki Haley going rogue publicly in an emotional plea to save the transgendered whales from being dead-named or whatever the cause célèbre is today.

The biggest change in the presidencies is Trump finally standing up to the press—you know the ones who reported the first assassination attempt as https://www.washingtonpost.com/video/national/trump-leaves-rally-after-loud-noises-erupt/2024/07/13/ec703498-2001-4555-802c-93bdaaa2bd72_video.html

“Trump leaves rally after loud noises”, as if he were a coward.

Fight, fight, fight, he said.

He is.”

Read the whole piece! Surber is a treasure and so very funny!

My Video of the Day uses AI generated memes and songs to share the News of the Day!

I crafted seven song versions of the Esther Prophecy by Kim Clement using the actual text from his original sermon. I chose the steam punk version as the accompaniment to my movie.

Funky Esther

Esther Song

(Verse one)

A Woman That Shall Rise Up In Faith, Virtuous, Beautiful In Eyes, And Her Eyes Shall Be So Beautiful, Her Eyes Shall Be Round and Big. I Have Crowned Her Says The Lord, As I Have Crowned Esther

(Chorus)

This New America will come quickly” “It will not be in the time of Obama” “they will shout IMPEACH, IMPEACH!” “This man will THROTTLE the enemies of the West!

(Verse Two)

I see a president that shall come, and this is not to speak bad about this one. There is a president who will come. And God says, ‘he will have absolutely no fear, absolutely no fear. He will be decisive, he will make decisions. And then in the middle of the restoration of America—rapidly because of a source of energy that shall come quickly, and because of medical breakthroughs, and because of agreements between nations, specifically China,’ God said, ’they shall say, ’we never dreamed this would happen.

(Chorus)

This New America will come quickly” “It will not be in the time of Obama” “they will shout IMPEACH, IMPEACH!” “This man will THROTTLE the enemies of the West!

(Verse Three)

As the beginning of the restoration, as it begins, there shall be a woman that shall rise up—a woman that shall be strong in faith; virtuous. Beautiful in eyes, and her eyes shall be so beautiful. Her eyes shall be round and big. I have crowned her,’ says the Lord, ‘as I crowned Esther. And the people shall receive her. She shall have the oil of gladness for the pain and the mourning that has taken place, and she shall pour out the oil

(Bridge)

Cartels shall be afraid of a woman—a woman anointed by God; a woman set aside, YES TO ESTHER, YES TO ESTHER

(Chorus)

This New America will come quickly” “It will not be in the time of Obama” “they will shout IMPEACH, IMPEACH!” “This man will THROTTLE the enemies of the West!

Esther Prophecy

Steam Punk Esther

(Verse One)

I see a president that shall come, and this is not to speak bad about this one. There is a president who will come. And God says, 'he will have absolutely no fear, absolutely no fear. He will be decisive, he will make decisions.

(Verse Two)And then in the middle of the restoration of America - rapidly because of a source of energy that shall come quickly, and because of medical breakthroughs, and because of agreements between nations, specifically China,' God said, 'they shall say, 'we never dreamed this would happen. They said that this in Japan would never happen.''

(Verse Three)God says, 'Listen to Me. As the beginning of the restoration, as it begins, there shall be a woman that shall rise up - a woman that shall be strong in faith; virtuous. Beautiful in eyes, and her eyes shall be so beautiful. Her eyes shall be round and big. I have crowned her,' says the Lord, 'as I crowned Esther.

(Verse Four)

And the people shall receive her. She shall have the oil of gladness for the pain and the mourning that has taken place, and she shall pour out the oil. (Is there some oil here, please?) She shall pour out the oil on this nation,' and God says, 'healing shall begin and then it shall flow rapidly.

(Bridge)

Schools will be free from potential damage and danger, shootings and murder, drug addiction. Cartels shall be afraid of a woman - a woman anointed by God; a woman set aside.'

(Verse Five)And God says, 'they will say 'we hated her, but now we love her.' For she shall take the oil of healing and she shall pour it upon the scars of those left and those right and of the new party that has come forth and emerged where they shall say, 'Christ will reign and we shall not implement socialism at all.' Where they have said, 'we will make history without God.' No, you will not. No, you will not,' says the Lord. 'For I chose this nation before it was founded, before anybody came here, I chose this entire nation - all fifty states, every one of them, to send My gospel to the entire earth. Do you think I have changed My mind?

(Verse Six)

Therefore, the healing that is necessary for this nation shall come at a time, in the middle of the presidency. There shall be a woman that shall come and God said there shall be oil that shall be poured upon the nation and they shall suddenly feel the healing and they shall say, 'it is well with my soul, it is well with our soul.' For the soul of America has been corrupted; the soul of this nation has been corrupted with bitterness and anger.'

(Verse Seven)

And God said, 'She shall say. 'no more bitterness, no more anger, no more division,' and she'll pour the oil that shall come from the Spirit of the Lord Himself.' If you as a nation believe, if you as a nation want this, lift your voice and shout one more time and say yes! Yes to Esther! Yes to Esther! Yes to Esther!

If you are feeling hopeless about all of our young people being steeped in Marxist ideology at school, just know that two of the greatest minds in America, were both hardcore Communists in their 20’s.

David Horowitz died this past week

And Thomas Sowell has been the bedrock common sense conservative in the USA for decades! I crafted a few AI songs to celebrate Thomas.

And compiled this post to celebrate David’s life. Both of these men have been my political mentors and reading their various books have contributed greatly to my education.

David grew up on the hard Left and remained a committed Marxist into his 30s. But he had the rare courage to question everything, and ultimately reject the radicalism of his youth to become one of the most influential conservative thinkers of our time.

Twenty-five years ago, David mentored a high school student named Stephen Miller. He supported him through Duke, through the Senate, and into the Trump White House. Today, Stephen is one of the most impactful architects of America First immigration policy. A legend thanks to David's mentorship.

As Politico wrote, “If you want to understand the immigration policies [Trump] has put into place, you have to also understand Horowitz.” David's fingerprints are all over the populist revival of the last decade.

David saw the Left clearly—and early. His books Indoctrination U and One Party Classroom were prophetic, exposing the rot on college campuses years before most conservatives dared to speak up.

But David didn’t just write. He debated. He showed up. He walked into hostile auditoriums and faced down Marxist professors, Islamist apologists, and race hustlers—armed only with truth, moral clarity, and a sharp tongue.

Back in 1999, David called out the Left’s weaponization of civil rights and its growing hatred of white people—a topic so radioactive that most conservatives avoided it for two more decades. He said what others were afraid to even whisper.

He published over 50 books, debated thousands, mentored dozens, and shaped the ideological terrain we now fight on. His final book was published in 2023—at the age of 84. He worked until his last breath.

David Horowitz was a lion. A fighter. A father of modern conservatism.

He boldly took on the American Campus and confronted Progressives every day for decades.

Thomas Sowell song

(Verse One)

Capitalism knows only one color: that color is green [the color of money]; all else is necessarily subservient to it, hence, race, gender and ethnicity cannot be considered within it.

(Chorus)

It is hard to imagine a more stupid or more dangerous way of making decisions than by putting those decisions in the hands of people who pay no price for being wrong.

It takes considerable knowledge just to realize the extent of your own ignorance.

(Verse Two)

The first lesson of economics is scarcity: There is never enough of anything to satisfy all those who want it. The first lesson of politics is to disregard the first lesson of economics.

(Chorus)

It is hard to imagine a more stupid or more dangerous way of making decisions than by putting those decisions in the hands of people who pay no price for being wrong.

It takes considerable knowledge just to realize the extent of your own ignorance.

(Bridge)

But life does not ask us what we want. It presents us with options. Economics is one of the ways of trying to make the most of those options.

(Verse Three)

The biggest and most deadly ‘tax’ rate on the poor comes from a loss of various welfare state benefits – food stamps, housing subsidies and the like – if their income goes up.

(Chorus)

It is hard to imagine a more stupid or more dangerous way of making decisions than by putting those decisions in the hands of people who pay no price for being wrong.

It takes considerable knowledge just to realize the extent of your own ignorance.

The Unknown Story of Thomas Sowell: How a Marxist Became the Conservative Champion of a Generation

I was a Marxist

(Verse One)

Working at the U.S. Labor Department woke me up to the reality of big government’s flaws.

“The job paid more than I had ever made before, enabling me to enjoy a few amenities of life. Inadvertently, it also played a role as a turning point in my ideological orientation. After a year at the University of Chicago, including a course from Milton Friedman, I remained as much of a Marxist as I had been before arriving.

(Chorus)

From there on, as I learned more and more from both experience and research, my adherence to the visions and doctrines of the left began to erode rapidly with the passage of time.

(Verse Two)

It is undeniable that Thomas Sowell is the pre-eminent conservative intellectual of the past half-century. Sowell’s work, the breadth of which should be considered nothing less than the bedrock of common-sense conservatism.

(Chorus)

“However, the experience of seeing government at work from the inside and at a professional level started me to rethinking the whole notion of government as a potentially benevolent force in the economy and society.

Bridge

Sowell’s time working for the federal government was the final straw forcing him to realize Marxism was not the answer to society’s ills.

(Verse Three)

Sowell possesses an undeniably staggering legacy: The conservative anti-intellectual has published as many as 50 books, wrote a nationally syndicated column and dazzled television audiences in numerous debates and appearances in which he would unequivocally destroy the left’s talking points with his most deadly weapon — common sense, COMMON SENSE!

(Chorus)

From there on, as I learned more and more from both experience and research, my adherence to the visions and doctrines of the left began to erode rapidly with the passage of time.

Thomas Sowell Theme Song for End Credits

(Verse One)

Born in the South, a world apart,

With grit and will, he shaped his art,

From Harlem’s streets to scholar’s halls,

He answered truth’s unyielding calls.

(Chorus)

In realms of thought where wisdom reigns,

A mind emerged through humble lanes,

Thomas Sowell, with piercing gaze,

Cut through the fog of modern days.

(Verse Two)

Economics, clear and stark,

He lit the dark with reason’s spark,

No dogma swayed his steady hand,

He sought the facts, the shifting sand.

(Chorus)

In realms of thought where wisdom reigns,

A mind emerged through humble lanes,

Thomas Sowell, with piercing gaze,

Cut through the fog of modern days.

(Verse Three)

With pen as sharp as any blade,

He carved the paths that others wade,

On culture, race, and liberty,

He wrote with fierce clarity.

(Chorus)

In realms of thought where wisdom reigns,

A mind emerged through humble lanes,

Thomas Sowell, with piercing gaze,

Cut through the fog of modern days.

(Bridge)

A skeptic of the grand design,

He questioned power’s every line,

“Knowledge is vast, yet men are frail,”

He warned through every timeless tale.

(Verse Four)

Through decades bold, his voice held fast,

A titan born of history’s past,

Thomas Sowell, a beacon still,

Guides us with his iron will.

(Chorus)

In realms of thought where wisdom reigns,

A mind emerged through humble lanes,

Thomas Sowell, with piercing gaze,

Cut through the fog of modern days.

A Conflict of Visions

(Verse One)

Thomas Sowell's A Conflict of Visions has one widely regarded and frequently cited quote that stands out for its concise encapsulation of a key idea in the book.

(Chorus)

The quote is, There are no solutions. There are only trade-offs.

Oooh ahhh oooo

There are no solutions. There are only trade-offs.

Oooh ahhh oooo

There are no solutions. There are only trade-offs.

Oooh ahhh oooo

(Verse Two)

This line, found in the context of Sowell discussing the constrained vision (where human nature imposes limits that require pragmatic choices over utopian ideals), captures the essence of his argument about the fundamental differences between the constrained and unconstrained visions.

(Chorus)

The quote is, There are no solutions. There are only trade-offs.

Oooh ahhh oooo

There are no solutions. There are only trade-offs.

Oooh ahhh oooo

There are no solutions. There are only trade-offs.

Oooh ahhh oooo

(Verse Three)

It’s pithy, memorable, and reflects his skepticism toward grand, flawless fixes to complex social problems—a cornerstone of the book’s thesis.

(Bridge)

Many readers and reviewers highlight it for its clarity and its challenge to conventional thinking about policy and human affairs.

(Chorus)

The quote is, There are no solutions. There are only trade-offs.

Oooh ahhh oooo

There are no solutions. There are only trade-offs.

Oooh ahhh oooo

I was a Shipoopi dancer in the Music Man when I was in the 6th grade!

My whole family performed in this show in 1980!

A jazzy cover from The Music Man and stories of love and marriage

During this show I referenced a line from War and Peace by Tolstoy.

A broadway show was written around the love story of Natasha and Pierre and this song Dust and Ashes immortalized the line I shared.

"They say we are asleep until we fall in love".

Pierre was married to a socialite who was openly cheating on him. Natasha was engaged to a man who had gone to fight in the war and while he was away she was seduced by an evil person.

Natasha and Pierre were two broken people who found love and came together in one of the most passionate love stories in literature.

The Great Comet Music Video: Dust and Ashes featuring Josh Groban

The show written by Dave Malloy used music to depict the story.

He said about this line,

"This is one of the most famous quotes from War & Peace, but it actually doesn’t come from this section of the novel, or even from any of Comet’s characters; it is said by Denisov, a military officer, as he is writing a love letter, very early in the novel (Vol. 1, Pt. 2, Ch. 4):

“‘You see, my fwiend,’ he said, ‘we sleep when we don’t love. We are childwen of the dust … but one falls in love and one is a God, one is pua’ as on the first day of cweation… .”
