What will happen to indie games in the next generation of video games? Welcome back to next gen video game theory by Nick. Awesome. Glad to have you guys back to the podcast, please click subscribe if you have not already. And let's get started. So today we're just going to talk about indie games and kind of what happened here. Are they still the thing? And I think that's a good question to ask yourself, because if it's going to be the future of gaming, we have to know where indie games are going. We cannot doubt that it's easier to produce video games than it has been in the past at a higher graphics level, which is a good thing for indie games. So I think it just really comes down to is the Unity engine there to help indie developers is the Unreal Engine there to help indie developers, I'd like to see more support for these indie developers. So they can produce those 3d games. That's the future of gaming. And so we can continue to get innovation because a lot of triple A developers are scared to innovate. We got pub G, because people were willing to innovate in the indie game area. And PlayStation kind of started out this past generation ps4 with really trying to support the indie developers. And they brought in a lot of indie developers, because they didn't have a huge lineup when they first started the ps4 system, when it first launched, they really support those indie developers. And we kind of see that faded back to where we are nowadays, we're AAA seems to be the thing. And then as we end the the last part of our generation, we're starting to see some little bit of indie developers start to pick back up, I would assume this is just gonna pick right back up that next generation, and there's still going to be a lot of indies there that are going to be able to thrive in that market. And the reason is, anytime you have a new system, it's a new hardware, and there's not as many games. So that really opens the door as an opportunity for indie developers really to hone their craft with that new system early on, because they're a lot more flexible. And agile compared to those triple A developers, which spend years developing games, the indie developers have a smaller staff are able to really hone in on what they want to do from a gaming perspective. So I do think in these next couple of years, we're going to see indie developers continue to take off, these small mom and pop developers are really what drive innovation and gaming, and we have to make sure they are supported, and that it's easier than ever to create content for them, because and then they get paid. Because they really do need our support. That's why crowdfunding crowdfunding is so important. And the support of Microsoft, PlayStation, and even Nintendo, although Nintendo doesn't have as many indie developers, but they're naturally going to have more because their technologies older, it's probably easier to developer to develop on. So they're gonna have a little bit more innovation products, and they have a little bit more at international perspective as Nintendo when it comes to that. So as the generations continue to go on, I think at first we're gonna have an indie developer, then we're gonna hit that triple a period where indies aren't able to really fit into that mold, as much, so I want to see them, I want to see these guys because they continue to innovate the industry. So we're gonna have this because we need the innovation more than anything. And we want to support people who do love gaming, because we are all gamers. And what I would encourage you to do is if you want to see a future where indie developers are able to make it and thrive, you need to make sure you're supporting them, much like you would support anyone. Now in PC gaming, indie developers are very established, they are not going away. And a lot of that has to do with steam and their supportive indie developers. You have to have a support structure and a platform that supports these developers
