In 2018, at the urging of students and faculty, the Business School formed two committees to study issues surrounding diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout the CBS community. In this episode, Gita Johar, Vice Dean for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and the Meyer Feldberg Professor of Business, tells us about the positive results of the committees’ work: a renewed and keener focus on DEI at the School. Johar explains what diversity, equity, and inclusion means for faculty and students, and also defines its role in curriculum and course materials. Johar is clear that there’s still work to be done, discussing steps the School needs to take to address DEI issues in both the short and long term.
