Eric Edholm, lead draft writer for NFL.com, joins Next Up to talk about how the Houston Texans are preparing for next season through free agency, trades and the draft. The Texans made it to the divisional round in the playoffs during quarterback C.J. Stroud's rookie season after going 3-13 the previous year. "C.J.'s maturity was a huge part of that" and "it was impressive on many a level." The Texans traded their first-round and seventh-round pick to the Minnesota Vikings for their second-round and sixth-round picks this year and their second-round pick in 2025. While first round picks are highly valued, Edholm is not questioning general manager Nick Caserio's decisions. "Building the foundation is just as important as putting the roof on" and "there's so many different approaches to take for team-building." Edholm also says that Caserio could still trade back into the first round or use his picks as pieces in other deals. "We have a pretty top-heavy draft class" and "the closer you get to the selection, the more panicked teams are."
