Housing in Austin is no joke if you’re going to the University of Texas. Make sure you don’t fall for the fancy showrooms in those nice apartment complexes. They’re not as pretty as you think. I learned the hard way when they put me in a closet and charged me $800/month. I quickly got out of that lease and had to commute from Houston and sleep on a friend’s couch for two weeks. I was homeless.

I told everyone my food was 5 stars when it was really 3 stars - and that's being generous. Next thing I knew, I started to bake, making trips to HEB at 1 AM in the morning to make carrot cake until 3:28 AM. It's the final part to how I started my cooking journey! My cooking journey continues as I venture to another state! As a high schooler trying to be a college student in Summer of 2015, I had to learn to cook because if I didn't, I starved. My first time cooking pasta was a success! In a dingy apartment in Berkeley, we made kimchi fried rice,  spicy Korean rice cakes (Tteokbokki), and snow pea leaves with garlic. If I didn't want to starve, I had to get in the kitchen and try.
