Cheers! Celebrations are moments in our lives that we believe are worth being proud of. Still, the question remains. What is worth celebrating? On episode four of Nia OnPurpose, I discuss specific occasions that I have both publicly and privately celebrated over the years. Memories, messages, and pictures are often things that we hold onto once our loved ones pass away. On the third episode of season two, I’m inspired to discuss the final memories and messages between my late sister and myself. I hope that this episode of Nia OnPurpose encourages others to reflect on those last messages and cherish them a little more.

This episode hits close to home as I discuss emotional responses surrounding the days of a loved one’s funeral. We don’t often talk about the strength it takes to plan, prepare, and attend a funeral. In episode two of Nia OnPurpose, my goal was to initiate the conversation and leave room for those to think about their experiences at funerals or view a perspective they never imagined.

For the first episode of the long awaited Season 2, I take this time to reflect on my life over the last ten years by writing a letter to younger Nia. This letter serves as a reminder of the things I've experienced, a love letter to self, and encouraging words for little Nia.

When I find myself in a dark space, I look towards old letters and notes from loved ones as a source of support. In this episode of Nia OnPurpose, I share some words of kindness that I've received over the years and encourage listeners to give people their flowers while they're still here.

Forgiveness is often something difficult to accept when people hurt you. Repressing emotions can be the cause of the lack of forgiveness and can negatively affect our relationships with others. In this episode, I talk about my trauma and anger from those who’ve hurt me. This episode can be triggering for listeners affected by sexual assault.

Friendships are often how we maintain happiness, almost like sustenance. In episode 8 of Nia OnPurpose, I discuss my friendships, how I understand them, and what they’ve taught me. In addition, I give mention to evolving and failed friendships.

Episode 7 of Nia OnPurpose dives into those fleeting thoughts and feelings that we instantly regret as soon as we think them. The purpose of this episode is to remind myself and others that we are imperfect and faulty. In the second half of this episode, I present ways that I am or plan to protect my mental health in spite of guilty thoughts.

Creating goals for self can promote productivity and encourage self-enhancement. On episode 6 of Nia OnPurpose, I talk about my personal and professional goals for the next five years of my life.
