The little city of Niagara Falls hardley needs and introduction a picturesque city nestled beside two of natures greatest sights, the American Fall and Bridal Veil Falls. Not everything in Niagara Falls New York is postcard worthy. In 1978 a neighborhood called Love Canal would make national news as it was declared a national emergency. However the story of Love Canal started way before 1978.

The town of Delcambre is nestled on the borders of Iberia and Vermillion parishes. The town is at the head of the Delcambre Canal which leads from fomr Lake Peigneur to the Gulf of Mexico. It was on Lake Peigneur in 1980 that one of the most jaw-dropping engineering disasters happened.
