This week, we have lectures 25 through 27 from Hugh Nibley’s Book of Mormon classes at Brigham Young University, covering Jacob 5—7 through Mosiah 1.

During 1988, 1989, and 1990, Hugh Nibley taught Honors Book of Mormon classes for four semesters at Brigham Young University. The lectures were video-taped and audio cassettes and printed transcripts were made of the lectures. We believe these recordings will be interesting to listen to and valuable to your Come, Follow Me study program this year. Each week, we will include the lectures covering the Book of Mormon chapters being studied that week.

All 112 lectures are immediately available in PDF, audio, video, and electronic formats, as well as in paperback books that are available for purchase. Links for all of the available online sources can be found in the Complete Bibliography for Hugh Nibley at https://interpreterfoundation.org/bibliographies/hugh-w-nibley/lectures/.

Lecture 25: Book of Mormon—Jacob 5—7; Enos.

Also called “The Olive Tree; The Challenge of Sherem.”

In the fourth chapter of Jacob he rings the gong in verses 13 and 14. What he is talking about here is absolutely basic. Notice that verse 13 is one philosophy of life, and verse 14 is the other philosophy of life.

Lecture 26: Book of Mormon—Enos, Jarom, Omni.

Also called “The Struggle of Enos.”

Enos is an important book. It’s just one chapter, you notice, but what a chapter!

Lecture 27: Book of Mormon—Omni, Words of Mormon, Mosiah 1.

Also called “The End of the Small Plates; The Coronation of Mosiah.”

Well, now we’ve got to the point where in one verse they take care of the history of a larger people than the Nephites. It simply says they crossed the ocean and landed here, and that was that.
