Nicholas Richard Denis Compton was born on 26th June, 1983, in Durban, Natal and raised in South Africa.
Nick is the grandson of legendary English test cricketer and Arsenal footballer Denis Compton.
In his early teens, Nick won a scholarship to Harrow where he developed his cricketing skills under the tutelage of former Leicestershire opener Tim Boon. He was selected for the Middlesex U19 side in 2000, played his county cricket with Middlesex and Somerset and went onto to make his full Test debut in the first match against India in Ahmedabad.
Nick has represented England 13 times.
Nick has worked for Sky during the 2016 Cricket World Cup and is a regular contributor for them. In addition to this he does regular features with TMS and the BBC as well as being a correspondent and reporter with CNN. Nick now is a full time photographer his passions lie in wildlife and landscape photography.
We spoke to Nick about the halo effect of cricket after the ground-breaking win by the England Cricket team in this year's Cricket World Cup. We talk about the pressures of being part of such a rich legacy of sport. And we find out what his perspective is on social media as a gateway for budding photographers, whether it's a help or a hindrance to creativity and his advice for future cricketing stars.
