In a press conference Friday President Biden responded “yes” to a question about Israel delaying a ground invasion until more hostages taken by Hamas are released, the White House later retracted the statement, saying Biden didn’t hear the question.

Press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said she misheard a question during Monday’s White House press briefing that resulted in viral criticism from all sides after she appeared to downplay a rise in antisemitism and quickly pivoted to condemning anti-Muslim attacks.

Former President Barack Obama originally said Israel should “dismantle” Hamas, but has now criticized Israel for the way it is “dismantling” the Palestinian terror organization.
