Eighteen Republican senators voted Thursday to pass a $1.7 trillion “omnibus” bill that not only funds the federal government for another fiscal year, but is also packed with earmarks, including a $750,000 commitment to a trans group that wants transgender “history and discourse” engrained in schools and primary education.

Four senators leaving Congress at the end of the year secured more than $1.7 billion combined in funding for pet projects and initiatives through earmarks in the $1.7 trillion spending bill Congress was rushing to pass this week.

Missouri Sen. Roy Blunt secured more than $348 million for projects across his state. Blunt secured millions for local water and infrastructure projects through Missouri.
