August, 12 2024 ~ Lucy Ann Lance talks with Nicole Bernacik, University of Michigan Credit Union for this week's Money Monday. Certain old items in your home can be surprisingly valuable, particularly when decluttering. Nicole Bernacik from the University of Michigan Credit Union identifies five categories of such items. First, unopened VHS tapes, especially from blockbuster films of the late 70s and 80s like “Halloween” and “Friday the 13th,” can sell for up to $25,000. Retro video games are another valuable category; rare titles such as “Little Samson” for NES have fetched over $2,000, while a Futurama Xbox game from 2003 sold for about $200. Vintage toys, especially from the 90s, also hold significant value.
