Hmong culture has many traditional beliefs that involve supernatural forces. One of them involves what they call Sudden Unexplained Nocturnal Death Syndrome (SUNDS).  These mysterious deaths are usually believed to be supernatural. That may be part of the reason that they inspired the horror movie director Wes Craven. SUNDS is the foundation for his film “A Nightmare on Elm Street.”
