Ten-year-old Nina creates Bolt, a robot made of scrap metal, and soon her shed becomes a haven for unique robot friends. Their joyful mechanical adventures are halted when the powerful Battery Swallower arrives to consume all the town's energy. Realizing strength is useless, Nina must use her ingenuity and knowledge of circuits to outsmart the giant thief and save her friends and the town.
