Trigger warning: This episodes includes mentions of self-harm, psychosis, and trauma.
The 9 of Swords is a tricky card. Massive understatement. It draws us into some of the most shadowy corners of our mind, often triggering fear, paranoia, shame, self-loathing, and obsession.
In this episode, I talk about a bit about an acute mental health episode I experienced, and share some thoughts about the connection between our family of origin and the family of voices that live within us (AKA our parts, à la Internal Family Systems). I hope it offers support and perspective to folks who need it.
Here is a list of non-carceral mental health resources from Project LETS, an abolitionist, grassroots mental health org that supports people in crisis. This list includes crisis lines that do not work with the police and will not lead to involuntary hospitalization. I hope this supports you or someone you love, should you ever need it.
