Episode #274: Nixon’s The One. Is Trump?

President Trump may have claimed total exoneration after the release of the Mueller Report, but Democrats came away more distressed than ever with his actions … so much so that the “I” word — “Impeachment” — is now being used more freely.  Frank Bowman of the University of Missouri, author of a book about impeachment in the age of Trump, compares the current situation with that of Richard Nixon. Elizabeth Holtzman was a freshman member of the House in 1974 when she voted to impeach Nixon as a member of the Judiciary Committee.  She argues that rather than call for Trump’s impeachment, the least House Democrats could do is to hold impeachment hearings … and let the facts fall where they may. Sarah Binder of the Brookings Institution and George Washington University questions the notion of a truly independent Federal Reserve, especially in the wake of Trump attempting to put two ideological allies on the board.  She also wonders:  Did anyone vet Herman Cain? And Democrats vote next month in Kentucky’s primary to pick a nominee to run against Gov.
