Battalion Chief Paul Wind is a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. After serving the Air Force as an ARFF Firefighter, Paul joined the Department of Defense as a civilian Firefighter at Fort Monmouth Fire Department in 1994. Paul spent most of his time assigned to Ladder Co 1 and Rescue Co 1 in Fire Headquarters before being promoted to Captain and being assigned to Engine Co 2 in the newly opened Station 2. Paul is also the cofounder of the IAFF Local F-103 Honor Guard, which led to his Hollywood film debut.
In 2010, prior to the closure of Fort Monmouth Paul transferred to Picatinny Arsenal to continue his career. This also led Paul to spearhead the expansion of the honor guard into the formation of New Jersey Federal Firefighters Honor Guard. He again promoted to the rank of Captain, followed by being promoted to Battalion Chief of Training in 2015 with the expansion of the department. In 2020 Chief Wind retired from the government while serving as Acting Deputy Chief and still overseeing the Training Division.
Paul is the Founder and Principal Consultant with Battalion 1 Consultants, which is dedicated to organizational health and safety through community risk reduction and training.
Paul has also served as an Instructor with The University of Texas @ Arlington for over a decade.
Over the course of his career Paul has been decorated for heroism, dedication, and leadership under fire on numerous occasions including the 2005 PETCO Explosion and several high profile incidents.
