No. 82 | The Paradox of Self-Compassion: Avoiding Self-Sabotage

Listen Later

Self-compassion is a non-negotiable when it comes to habit and behavior change and working on improving your health. Unfortunately, for many there is a fear that too much self-compassion can lead you to not staying motivated toward your goals.

What can you do when you fear you are being "too nice" to yourself or that your grace has turned into excuses, complacency or it's impacting your ability to stay motivated toward your goals?

In this episode you will:

  • learn more about the importance of self-compassion for creating sustainable, lasting changes and true growth.
  • understand what cognitive dissonance is and some of the ways it can show up
  • learn why how we speak to ourselves matters and how to change your internal narrative to be more kind and supportive
  • discover how easing up, cutting yourself slack and letting go of discipline may not actually be the most compassionate choices
  • recognize if a fear of diet culture is creating an over correction that is leading to passivity
  • get access to practical strategies to start changing your inner narrative and create a new script that is more self-compassionate
  • learn how to become your own motivational coach
