Cuomo’s defense attorney said, and I quote, “I was told that after a thorough investigation — as we have said all along — there was no evidence to suggest that any laws were broken.” The most significant part of that statement is “no evidence that laws were broken”. It was a policy coming from his admin that facilitated the death of thousands, of course no actual law was broken, but that’s a technicality do to the workings of our government. When considering the government, and the power it holds, the question is one of accountability. To say that former Governor Cuomo broke no laws is disingenuous at best. Once again the question is - is he responsible? From implementing a policy placing the most vulnerable at risk at a time when we had confirmation on what that meant to refusing to pivot once the bodies began to pile up and then purposefully misrepresenting the numbers once his ineptitude was exposed - suggests to me that not only is he responsible, but he is aware of his culpability and doesn’t care.
