Many moms are starting to question **epidural use** in labor. Are they safe? Are they necessary? What is in it and what are ALL the side effects? In this episode, doula Britni Sisco and I discuss ALL those questions and also talk about some PERSONAL EXPERIENCES with epidurals with our doula clients. (Sorry about the few glitches in the sound; the internet wasn't cooperating the day we recorded this.)

• Most care providers do not give you the full list of potential side effects that come with an epidural. Examples are: fever, shaking, headache, long-term back pain, side effects for BABY, and more.
• Many moms feel like "birth is done to them" instead of being an active participant in birth when they have an epidural.
• The ingredients of an epidural are never mentioned unless you ask directly, but include narcotics, opiods, and more.
• Recovery is generally easier WITHOUT an epidural.
• There is a time and place for an epidural and only YOU should decide when that is!
