Psalm 127:4 "As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth."

Every Christian is called to spiritual warfare, using two scriptural weapons: the sword (the Word of God) and the arrow (children, Psalm 127:4). Simeon and I discuss how arrows—our children—must be prepared, aimed, and fired to reach their potential. As Christian parents, we prepare and aim our children in their youth, then release them to fight the good fight of faith.

The gospel has the power to transform lives, not just for eternity but in our everyday living. Jesus wants us to have life abundant. This is found when we keep our attention focused on the cross.

Missionary Patty Sommer joins us to share what her life is like living in Ghana, West Africa. The Sommers have been in the country church planting for over two decades. While planting churches and traning national pastors, they also are involved in literary work.

She talks about raising children on the mission field, navitaging the years of children crossing into adulthood, trusting the Lord, and how we can be all that God desires us to be as we go through different seasons of life.

There are different stages in the life of a woman. While I'm still in the reproductive years, I know the perimenopause/menopause stage is on the horizon. Years ago I heard the story behind the writing of this hymn. Having my eyes opened to the heartbreaking circumstances that led to the writing of this beautiful hymn would change me. I realized that there is rich depth to the hymns we sing in worship. This changed how I worshipped the Lord through song. I began to see God's character shining through hymns I had sung since my childhood.

There are times in life where we have to cling to the goodness of the Lord lest we drown under the waves of sorrow and loss. Our family has recently been in that season as we walked through our second miscarriage. I share the story of our grief, but my prayer is that hope shines brightly through all the darkness. God is always, only good- even when our hearts are breaking. "I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living."
