Welcome to the Smash assistant podcast. I’m your host, Nino Prodan. And today I want to ask you, have you found your groove? Have you found the groove that you work best in? For me, I worked a certain way and never really realized which way fit me the most. In fact, I didn’t even realize that there was a way that I worked that was different from others. But when I tried one, I was really productive. And when I worked another way, I was everything but productive. When I first started creating my organic garden back when I lived in Cleveland, I really like to do one certain type of work all day long, and just bang it all out at one time. I didn’t like leaving anything left over for the next day with regard to doing that thing if I could push another hour or two, say I was digging, if I could push another hour to and just get everything done and leave nothing left over for the next day, I was able to do it. In fact, I liked doing it that way, because I felt like I had nothing hanging over my head. The problem is when you really, really work hard like that, you have to also give yourself some recovery time. So what I would do is work really, really, really hard, and then relax. And this is just like running too. I don’t really like running long distances, but I love sprinting. When I was a swimmer I used to do the Sprint’s or the shorter races and not the long distance races. The sports I’d like to play are more for very fast bursts instead of something set for endurance. But it wasn’t only physical. I also noticed when I worked at the office that I had the same tendencies. I’m a sprinter. I’m somebody that works really hard and then has to take breaks and some time to enjoy myself. And I thought something was wrong with me because a lot of the folks klore tells you that you have to just keep grinding away and keep working every day. You know the tortoise and the hare, that’s all a bunch of bullshit. Just because someone likes to work really, really hard, and then take a break doesn’t mean they’re any worse than somebody who likes to kind of moderate, how much they work at one time and then just keep going at a slower pace. Now, there’s nothing wrong with either, but you have to figure out which one works for you. That way you can make it work for you. Don’t deny who you are, just because you’ve been told that you should work a certain way. If you work best in bulk and getting things done all at once and then taking a break, then work that way. If you are good at moderating yourself and kind of plugging away over a long time, not too intense, but at a pace that you’re comfortable at. And it’s not all out. You don’t have to crush it every day but you can just plug away every day. That’s great work that way. The most of Important thing is that you’re taking the steps, you’re doing the work. So don’t let anybody else tell you the way you need to do it. If you’re getting it done, just keep doing it. Now, here’s a way to identify if it’s not working for you very easy. Instead of being a moderator or sprinter, you’re a procrastinator. You try to avoid doing the work or you work a lot and then you get burnt out and you don’t feel like doing it. So look back and see like it physically is the easiest way to figure it out. Because if you’d like to run long distances, or do things over long periods of time, and you feel very comfortable with that, then you’re a moderator and keep working as a moderator. Don’t try and become a sprinter. If you’d like getting things done all at once, then taking a break. And you’re a sprinter, if you’d like sprinting rather than running long distance. doesn’t work that way. There’s nothing wrong with one or the other. The only thing that’s wrong is not reaching for your dream
