In today’s episode of No Limits, Joseph Z unpacks how to activate our prophetic gifts while explaining the responsibilities of prophetic ministry, highlighting the need for maturity, accountability, and emotional discipline.
Joseph explains that prophecy is often seen as a source of comfort, exaltation, and encouragement from the beginning. However, he points out that it involves much more, including significant words of knowledge. He emphasizes that while people can receive revelations, it is crucial to learn how to interpret and apply prophecy according to God’s word. Joseph notes that various religious beliefs can obstruct the true essence of prophecy, and just because we perceive certain things about people doesn’t mean we should voice them. He stresses that the first lesson for anyone with the gift of prophecy is to avoid manipulating others, as prophecy should not be transactional.

He continues by stating that novices in the prophetic ministry can be the most dangerous. These individuals are still discovering their gifts and may risk becoming real or false prophets. With proper guidance and a foundation in God’s word, novices can be directed toward genuine prophecy; however, if they isolate themselves from fellowship to practice independently, they may become self-serving and manipulative. Joseph notes that while they can still be salvaged at some level, reaching a reprobate state makes recovery far more difficult.
Furthermore, Joseph underscores the importance of having father figures in the faith who can guide us toward righteousness and correct us when we veer off course. He also mentions that prophetic gifts can be hereditary and may become distorted if they are not nurtured within the boundaries of God’s word and through good leadership. He highlights the necessity for prophetic individuals to maintain a strong personal connection with the Lord while also being secure enough to collaborate with others. Lastly, Joseph emphasizes that those in the prophetic ministry must manage their emotions to avoid becoming overwhelmed.
