Sunday morning at our church we were singing a very lovely and loved song that is contemporary. It says, "I'm no longer a slave to fear, I am a child of God."

You know, it's amazing in this modern world, even in the USA, where there's so much money and opportunities to have fun, and travel, and have vacations, nevertheless thousands, and yes, I guess it's millions of people live in fear. Fear of death, fear of divine punishment, fear of falling apart, fear of divorce, fear of poverty in old age, and money not lasting for retirement. But the Bible says, "Perfect love casts out fear." And when we are children of God we know that God really loves us, because Jesus Christ showed His love by going to the cross and taking away our guilt. Remember that?  He said, "Father forgive them, they don't know what they're doing."

So, when you repent and receive Christ, something happens.  You become a child of God, and you know you are loved by Him, that Christ lives in your heart, that heaven is your home and therefore you are no longer a slave to fear. Once in a while you're afraid of something, but you turn to your heavenly Father and He takes away the fear. Yes, it's wonderful to follow Jesus Christ.
