In this episode Isidro talks about how his dad would use the following phrase to deal with the harsh rhetoric from people telling him things like, “GO BACK TO MEXICO!” or “IF YOU DON’T SPEAK ENGLISH, THEN YOU SHOULDN’T BE IN THIS COUNTRY!” The phrase he’d use was, “NO ME CHINGLES!” – which, if you speak Spanish, can be easily construed as a “bad” phrase.  “Don’t mess with me” – But to Isidro’s father, and later for the rest of his family, the phrase simply meant, “Don’t English Me!” – For those who were vulgar and threatening to his family because they did not speak English, NO ME CHINGLES was how they dealt with those people.  “DO NOT ENGLISH ME THAT WAY” “DON’T TALK TO ME THAT WAY!” And then his family would move on. Isidro tells the story of his mom and dad going to night school to learn how to speak English. They also were magically assisted by their customers to help them translate for when English only speaking customers were present.    Taquote: “ The more tacos you make, the more friends you will have!”       We’d like to thank Audrey West, Juan Amador and Bud Beede for their comments and support for the show!  You are the salsa in our tacos!  Follow us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter - @10ktacos [email protected] Tenthousandtacos.com or 10Ktacos.com   A big thanks to Flobama for the theme music.
