No More Showering using Trash Bags after Double Mastectomy…Lisa Crites and the Shower Shirt Part 1 is Episode 17 of the Invention Stories Podcast
Inventor Lisa Crites invented the Shower Shirt, a post-surgical, water resistant garment designed to protect chest surgery patients, including mastectomy, hemodialysis, cardiac, lung, hernia, rotator cuff, and external defibrillator patients from water while showering.
Invention Story Begins
Lisa’s Shower Shirt invention story begins following her double bilateral mastectomy after being diagnosed with breast cancer. She wanted to take a shower and was told that by doing so that water entering the wound would risk infection. They recommended she cover herself using a trash bag to give her protection from bacteria. Lisa was shock…then buckled down.
The Shower Shirts are the only water resistant garmets currently on the markets. We invite you listen and learn to the story behind them.

Mastectomy…
The Shower Shirt is a  post-surgical, water resistant garment designed to protect chest surgery patients, including mastectomy, hemodialysis, cardiac, lung, hernia, rotator cuff, neuro-stimulation, and external defibrillator patients from water while showering.  Lisa Crites designed the Shower Shirt.  She is a breast cancer patient who underwent a bi-lateral mastectomy. Forced to resort to a plastic trash bag while showering, she designed the product so that future surgery patients could shower or bathe more safely, and in comfort.
