There is No Need for a Hammer, Boss!

 

Ever worked for a boss that seemed like all discussions were used with a hammer? Unfortunately, we live in a negative world, and it is often the negative that gets our attention.

After all, who are you paying more attention to – the employee who always gets their job done when it’s expected and with a high quality, or the employee who is always late, needs to be reminded, and in the end produces work that is poor and lacking?

Most likely it is the employee who isn’t producing adequately, the ‘problem child’. And when the negative regularly drives our attention, the end result can be those moments of frustration when the hammer falls.

Did you see that bad outcome brewing? Could you have stopped them from going down the wrong path but you ‘just wanted to see what was going to happen’?

Certainly ‘problem children’ need to be dealt with appropriately, but when we are focusing on the negative and what is lacking – even with our ‘angels’ – we aren’t going to get the best results from anyone.
