No Plan B

Listen Later

In Matthew 8 Jesus encounters a leper who says, "If you are willing, I know you can make me clean." There's a big take away from that. Not only is Jesus willing and able to make the leper clean, but the question behind it is "What is your will?" Thankfully, His will is to make us clean. Not only that His will is for us to be participants in His will. When we ask God's will to be done, seek His will, and do something about it our trust increases and God reveals to us that He is willing and able.
In the story of Naaman there is a little girl who has been ripped from her home in a violent raid on her village. She is a slave in the house of her enemy. But even so, she remembers God's good will and desires that her master who suffers from leprosy should be clean. Her trust in God is infectious and it leads to Naaman seeking God's will for him. Like many of us, he tries to impose his will on God. He tries to bribe God's prophet so God's will matches his; but in the end when Naaman obeys God's orders he learns that God's will is for him to be clean.
When we seek God's will and receive His plan we are telling Him, "Lord, Your plan is plan A and I won't have a plan B." When we live like that heaven comes near.
