Ignorance
to fail to notice
to avoid understanding
to lack and to want
NO TIME FOR SONG
The black birds sing along
to the refrain of the train at the end of the block
and I’m sitting outside alongside
my thoughts
in a place of impermanence
at least that is what I wish and beg of this
being to just be
while I’m growing up —
I know the never is better than saying farewell forever
to this place a little like when I was younger
feeling bound for something greater
I was so shaky and sure I could set my course
trying to ignore a voice
leading the sway from mediocrity
for all around was seen painfully, so plainly
there was something I knew I had
to prove, and I wound up finding out
aside from what I cooked up through feelings
of almost, but never there and doubt
aided in a half year boiling
upon the brim of breaking
stirred down all the bubbles
mercy’s strike fortunately reduced the troubles
creating an acute sense of awareness
to taking care and tending the song
once sung so clearly, while lost momentarily
was all a long
still residing within me.
