Innenpolitisch unterstützt er den linken Demokraten Bernie Sanders, er wirft der Internationalen Politik das Scheitern in der Klimakrise vor, kritisiert die nationalistisch-rechtsgerichtete Politik Israels und fordert  internationale Unterstützung für die Rechte der Palästinenser. In dem Gespräch wird die Beziehung zwischen den USA und der EU diskutiert. Das Gespräch wurde 1999 in Boston am Massachusetts-Institut für Technologie (MIT) im Büro von Noam Chomsky aufgenommen.
