The number one mistake networkers make when they go to dinner with a prospect or a client.
A lot of people go out and set appointments in the evening with prospects to have dinner and drinks.
They meet at bars.
Restaurants.
You have to set up rules around meeting prospects.
Rule #1- If you're going to a bar to meet someone, go to a high-end place. Be prepared for the bill, but you're not going to attract low-class people.
Rule #2- Don't drink too much. I've seen way too many people have way to many drinks before the prospect arrives and ending in them blowing a sale.
Rule #3- Set a limit. Anytime you meet with a prospect, limit yourself to how many drinks you'll be having. For me, 3 is my number.
It's not bad to want to meet at a bar or restaurant to do business, but hold these rules close to you.
They'll serve you well in business.
At the end of the day, nobody wants to do business with a drunk bumbling idiot.
