Today, we look at two apps that can tell you what types of sounds are going around you. The first app, Noise Sniffer, is an app that lets you determine how many decibels is in the room. This is perfect for the parent who is concerned about the kid who has the TV on too loud, or a bar owner that is concerned that the music will get them a noise ticket.
Noise Sniffer just gives you an idea how many decibels you hear. It can also let you know if you should put in ear plugs.
Jeffrey also looks at a couple RTA programs. The first one is RTA (which I have been using for the last couple years). Only problem is that it’s an iPhone app,and not iPad.
Octave RTA is an iPad app that you can use to find a specific frequency in a room. This is for the audiophile that hears a weird sound when watching a movie. By focusing on a frequency, you can counter it through EQ processing, turning a speaker or putting up sound padding.
Octave RTA is $4.99
