@radiochiguiro invited @babanisoundsystem (Mauritius) to remix the iconic single “Poo Pad Pong Curry” from Xiangyu In this version, Babani infuses the track with a distinct tropical groove, adding a Mauritian flair that energizes the already legendary song.

xiangyu first met her future manager, Yasutomoto Funakanga, in 2012 while studying at Bunka Fashion College. Though she initially declined his suggestion to pursue music, she eventually agreed five years later. Together, they launched the xiangyu project with the explosive video for “Poo Pad Pong Curry,” a unique fusion of gqom and J-pop that captured global attention. Since then, xiangyu has sung about everyday subjects—food, shoes—supported by producers like Kenmochi Hidefumi and Gimgigam.

After two decades of traveling the world as a DJ and VJ, Babani's

head honcho, Avneesh, ventures into music production with his

debut EP, SEGA XPERIMENT #001.

This project was born out of a series of creative experiments with

friends and fellow producers, allowing the Mauritian artist to craft his own distinctive sound. Avneesh focuses on the traditional Sega music of Mauritius, collaborating with UK-based Mauritian DJ/ Producer K. Monday for this first EP.

The two raw tracks on SEGA XPERIMENT #001 capture the vibrant energy and groove that define Avneesh’s DJ sets. While deeply rooted in traditional Mauritian music, these tracks seamlessly blend with contemporary club beats, creating a unique hybrid sound.

SEGA XPERIMENT #001 is a standout addition to the Babani label,

offering two powerful tracks that immediately captivate with their

innovative take on electronic Sega music.

ë’s Y-Series, bringing you club-oriented material from over the globe, delivers the first official E.P from Woreka, part of the ë DJ crew and member of Babani Soundsystem: Send Me Off To Eat/Little Knives Cut Big Pumpkins (a literal English translation of Mauritian tongue in cheek expressions).

This belter combines ravey synth lines with textured drums tastefully. The 2nd track to the E.P: Little Knives Cut Big Pumpkins is a more classic kuduro-inspired banger with some spicy electronic textures on top.

Woreka’s ability to seamlessly assimilate rhythms from around the globe to form his own distinctly personal style makes this project unique as it combines different layers of percussion and grooves with some techno on top. Perfect recipe for the club!
