Here in the United States, you might think racism only involves the oppressor and the oppressed. But as the world continues to sort out racial equality, we realize the rampant cycle of oppression is powered by ideas of white supremacy, imbalanced privileges, and other less obvious causes.
Yes, the age-old problem of racism is still prevalent in our unique political climate and most aspects of society. We’re still learning to be better people. One of the things we had to face is the fact that we must defeat systemic racism—racism embedded as normal practice in institutions like education and law enforcement, to see real change. We've got to continually work toward equality for all ethnic groups while striving to undo racism in our minds, our personal environments, and the wider world.
When we can see things from the perspective of the oppressed—maybe then we’ll understand why it’s not enough to just be “non-racist” in this country.
In this video, we’ll talk about how non-racist white people have it rough living in America, and why that discomfort may not disappear anytime soon.
Non-Racist White People MUST be so Uncomfortable in America
