NONESSENTIAL CONSTRUCTION SITES REOPEN IN NYC
As part of New York State’s phase-one reopening plan, the NYC Department of Buildings (DoB) released new COVID-19 safety guidelines for property owners and contractors. The reopening of 33,556 nonessential jobsites was scheduled on June 8, with new required safety measures including visible signage, social distancing, availability and use of hand-washing and sanitation stations and limiting confined spaces, such as elevators and construction hoists, to one person at a time, unless the unit is at 50% capacity and all are wearing masks. The new DoB rules also require designation of an onsite safety monitor, and the department will conduct safety sweeps to ensure compliance.
