With fetal chromosomal aneuploidies being a common cause of congenital malformation and miscarriages, screening for these aneuploidies has for many years been identified by ACOG as an important component of obstetrical care. Noninvasive prenatal testing (NIPT) provides a means to screen women for these chromosomal aneuploidies that offer high levels of sensitivity and specificity.
