Disciples of Jesus must follow the Spirit, not quench Him.

In these verses we are given the pattern of how the church ministers to the sick among them. I think it’s important for us to recognize this is the pattern for the church. I believe any disciple of Jesus can go to a sick person, lay hands on them, pray for God to heal them, and if God chooses, they can be healed. But sometimes there is a need for the church body to specifically minister to the sick among them. This passage gives us the pattern.

A disciple's character is determined by Christ not circumstances.

Despite oppression and hardship, the righteous hold on, keep going, and refuse to give up because they know it’ll be worth it all when Jesus returns. To teach us how to do this James gives us two commands, two warnings, and three examples. All of which point us to the one Judge who is our Savior.

America needs disciples of Jesus with vision, faith, and courage.
