This week, Ira spoke with Richard Bakewell, writer-director of "Roswell Delirium," a character-driven, science fiction drama which takes the audience back to the 1980s, when the United States is hit by a wave of nuclear attacks, and after the fallout those who remain pretend like everything is normal - even though they are all experiencing radiation poisoning. In this alien episode of “Ira’s Everything Bagel,” Richard talks about starting to write the movie during COVID because he was bored; his trip to the Salton Sea, where he was inspired by the location; why he wanted to combine aliens with the 80’s (which was his time); how he included “Easter eggs,” movie quotes, and song lyrics in the film; how he recruited known actors from the 80’s and really had to sell it because of the sci-fi theme; and his work on “Cops.”
