Nostalgia and empathy are forms of memory, a specific type of memory that demonstrates to you the repetitive nature of existence. At it's root, existence is the process through which the soul grows. Perspective is defined by limitations, thus there is a necessity for you as an eternal being to be limited in a series of steps, or tests in which the reward is expansion of the limitation. I believe that limitation is the physical manifestation you embody, meaning you as a human being are a culmination of all of the previous manifestations you have embodied. Starting with the most primitive version of life, culminating in liberation from constraint entirely. Enlightenment. Love.
