Since our childhood, we are taught that maturity is when we move from being dependent to being independent. But societal trends have shifted our notion of independence to an unhealthy and selfish way of living. What if there was a healthier version of the tension between being dependent and independent? Spoiler alert: there is and it is a healthier way for us to live life that involves not only leaning on others but learning to let others lean on us as well.
