Ep. 9:
In the realm of fitness and spirituality, the connection between our physical bodies and our spiritual selves is profound. Just as God intricately designed our bodies to respond to the food and nutrients we consume, He also calls us to be mindful of what emanates from within us. In Matthew 15:10-20, Jesus emphasizes that it's not what goes into the body that defiles a person but rather what comes out - our words, actions, and intentions.
We should understand that Jesus wasn't saying it doesn't matter what we eat. God created our bodies and every system therein. He also created everything that we consume for nutrients and energy. So He knows all about the digestive system and how the human body disperses nutrients throughout the body. However, when it comes to the things of the spirit, what's more important is not what our bodies consume but what comes out of us due to our heart's position as it partains the holy spirit.
This scripture in Matthew serves as a powerful reminder that while maintaining a healthy diet is important for our physical well-being, nurturing our spiritual health through our interactions with others and our relationship with God is even more crucial.
When we reflect on how God created our bodies to process the food we eat, we can draw parallels to how He intends for us to process and respond to the world around us. Just as we carefully choose nourishing foods to fuel our bodies, we should also carefully choose our thoughts, words, and deeds to nourish our souls and glorify God. Let's strive to fill ourselves with goodness, both in body and spirit, knowing that what we consume not only affects our physical health but also reveals the condition of our hearts.
By focusing not only on the external aspects of health but also on cultivating a kind and loving heart, we align ourselves with God's will and demonstrate His love to those around us. In this way, our pursuit of a healthy lifestyle becomes a holistic endeavor that honors God in body, mind, and spirit.
