Globally, data privacy has been discussed widely for a few years now.

The European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation was implemented in May 2018.
India’s Personal Data Protection (PDP) Bill was tabled in the Lok Sabha in December 2019 and has been referred to a select committee of Parliament.
