We used to hear “Don’t talk to strangers. Never go into a strangers car. Don’t get candy from a stranger”. Nowadays, the danger with strangers is not so much in the playground, but in your very own home.
In episode 54, I sit down with Rahel Bayar to discuss Online predatory behavior. But something interesting I learned is that online sexual abuse can happen not only from strangers but also from people your children know or even strangers POSING as people your children know.
As a former sex crimes and child abuse prosecutor and a speaker and consultant on Abuse and Harassment Prevention, Rahel makes it very clear that Yes. It can happen to your child.
But before you start panicking, Rahel assures us that with the right attitude and mindset, there is always room to make our kids safer. This is a conversation that you don’t want to miss and will encourage you to start having these conversations with your own kids. Enjoy the show!
