Did you ever wonder why the Bible comes with a song-book in the middle? 

It didn't have to. In fact, people were Israelites and worshipped God without an official songbook for some time before David came along. Looking at the Psalms as gratuitous can be helpful for us to foster gratitude and avoid taking them for granted.
